Au Pairs in Australia

Au Pair is a French term and means ‘on equal terms’ and the average Au Pair in Australia works between 30 and 35 hours per week and looks after the children of the family they are staying with while doing light housework duties like setting the table, washing the dishes, vacuuming, and sweeping the floors etc. In exchange for your services you will be given board, lodging and with some families an income of AUD 150 – AUD 200 per week. It is common practice for most families who have an Au Pair to allow the Au Pair one - two days a week off, and we would encourage you to know what you are getting into before you sign up.
